Chug' Story

Starting out as a DJ in Tokyo in the late 90's, Nick had the opportunity of witnessing the dance music explosion in Japan. Taking inspiration from that experience he returned to Australia in 2000 to work as a full time music producer. Along the way Nick also discovered the sound of the didjeridoo. He was instantly attracted to its synth like quality and took up playing in 97. For many years he played didj with Djs at parties and developed an ability to weave the didj into dance music In the Chug project, Nick has combined this dance music background with 10 years experience as a didjeridoo player. The result is deep, tribal and funky music that blends the organic seamlessly with electronic sound. Great expressive music to dance to and free the spirit!

CHUG is Nick West. A dynamic didjeridoo player that combines the funky rhythms of his didj playing with his original live electronic dance music. The result is a sound that infects dance floors every where with its tight powerful energy. 

Based in Sydney, Australia. Nick has a long history as an electronic producer. With numerous well received releases in the international dance scene under artist names Floattank, Oculus and  Didjitalis . Nick has sold over 15,000 units of his music to date,  and is currently enjoying strong sales of the debut CHUG album, Dynamic Static.

The CHUG project was developed because Nick wanted  to blur the line between DJ and live instrumental music. He set about developing a dynamic live project incorporating the worlds oldest instrument , yet retaining a solid dance floor groove. Drawing influence from many dance genre's  including progressive House, Trance and Electro - the CHUG sound can best be described as deep, funky and atmospheric.
